Barrios Secures Planning Money for Beacham
Renovation Everett, MA – Seeking to provide relief to residents on one of Everett’s most beleaguered roads, Senator Jarrett T. Barrios secured $400,000 for reconstruction of Beacham Street in the economic stimulus package passed by the Senate last week. If approved by the House and Governor, the money would help the city plan and design for renovation of Beacham Street. “Beacham Street has long been a point of frustration for drivers and the city of Everett and we need to do something to fix it,” said Senator Barrios. “It is the gateway to the produce center for thousands of trucks that serve New England and the state must partner with the city of Everett to renovate the road and provide relief.” The planning money was inserted into the bond portion of the economic stimulus package after Senator Barrios was contacted by Mayor David Ragucci who identified Beacham Street as a roadway project that needs state assistance. The money must now survive a conference committee where the House and Senate hammer out differences between their bills, and then must be approved by the Governor. "On behalf of the City of Everett, I would like to thank Senator Barrios for his continued support. The reconstruction of Beacham Street is vitally important to Everett and to the regional economy. Several major businesses of regional importance depend on Beacham Street for their access,” stated Mayor Ragucci. ###
