PLEASE CONTACT: Senator Barrios announced this week that every local cultural council in his district will receive grants from the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC). The MCC grants benefit the district by supporting community-based cultural projects that explore local arts and history, expand education and accessibility, and celebrate diversity in our community. “This is a great day for every city and town in my district,” said Senator Barrios. “The funding will enhance the local arts scene, put money into the local economy and in turn improve the community for every resident.” Boston Cultural Council $159,450 Cambridge Arts Council $19,570 Chelsea Cultural Council $15,160 Revere Cultural Council $16,600 Everett Cultural Council $10,010 Somerville Arts Council $30,990 Saugus Cultural Council $6,170 "The Legislature’s strong support for arts and culture this year allows us to invest more resources in our core programs for organizations, local cultural councils, and arts education," says Mary Kelley, MCC’s Executive Director. "These investments will yield positive returns for the Commonwealth in more vibrant communities, better schools, and a stronger economy." The Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC) released more than $8.2 million in new funding for organizations, communities, and schools across the Commonwealth. These grants support arts and culture in public education, stimulate economic activity, and expand access to the arts, humanities, and sciences in every community in Massachusetts. |
